Mazda has been one of the most successful manufacturers in the second annual Carsales.com.au Car of the Year awards, taking top honours in three key segments.
First-Ever Mazda CX-3 – which arrived in March – was voted Australia’s Best City Car, the flagship New Mazda6 was recognised as the Best Family Car over $30,000 for the second consecutive year, while New Mazda CX-5 – Australia’s favourite SUV – was again awarded SUV Car of the Year under $50,000.
Carsales.com.au described the New Mazda CX-5 as “the benchmark in the mid-size SUV segment and the best in class for refinement, packaging, performance and efficiency”, while the First-Ever Mazda CX-3 – Mazda’s smallest SUV – “rose to the top with its contemporary design, compact size, satisfying dynamics and value for money, along with outstanding quality and its fun-to-drive character”.
Mazda6 – which is the nation’s most popular imported medium car under $60,000 – “racked up plenty of fans among the judges for excellent ride and handling and European-luxury levels of refinement”, according to Carsales.com.au.
The Car of the Year recognition follows the announcement that Mazda was presented with six prestigious Gold Star Value awards by Wheels magazine and eight ‘Recommends’ awards from motoring.com.au.
“Mazda is delighted to receive these awards, it acknowledges the excellent work done by our R&D and manufacturing engineers at Mazda Head Office in Japan,” said Mazda Australia managing director Martin Benders.
“Mazda’s focus is to deliver a range of stylish, fuel efficient, technically advanced vehicles that are fun to drive. New car buyers are also recognising the value and excellence in our cars with many of our models ranking top in intentions and appeal.
“The Car of the Year awards from Carsales.com.au carry a high level of prestige because their website talks to many new car buyers with high levels of traffic, as well as the knowledge and expertise of their judging panel.”
